CKS is above all a system that allows each user to preserve his research work rather than starting over each time. This gives rise to a constantly expanding accumulation of valuable information. Compared to standard search engines, where the user loses the benefit of past searches, CKS integrates automatic functions to store query histories and bookmark viewed documents.
Each authenticated user with a CKS account can save the current query or a previous one, associated with a set of metadata: a name, a description and a group of keywords. Stored queries can then be converted into alerts.
While working, the user can also select the most relevant results and save them, like bookmarks in a browser. The user can similarly add a set of metadata to this bookmarked resource: name, description and keywords.
By storing query histories and reference data originating from multiple sources, each user will develop a mini knowledgebase on the subjects important for his assignment and his productivity.
