TF1, France's leading television channel, also has an Internet presence, with an information and entertainment portal for the general public, www.tf1.fr. The site has monthly traffic of over 14 million unique visitors. TF1.fr stands out with the richness and diversity of its content: news reports in real time (from the bureaus of TF1 and LCI), games, music, videos, television programs, online communication and dating services, thematic online magazines (women, travel, etc.) |
This site contains such a wide array of content that it is sometimes difficult for visitors to find or return to the content they want. This means that in order to make users' navigation easier and maximize the visibility of internal content, TF1.fr must provide an internal search facility with unusually high performance. TF1 was not at all satisfied with the Autonomy solution previously used on the site; the diversity of their content made integration of Autonomy extremely complex, costly and inefficient.
Thanks to the modular, flexible architecture of AFS and the strengths of our technical teams, Antidot was able to respond to TF1's requirements, implementing a unified search solution constructed around a specialized XML agent that indexes the XML streams of TF1's content.
Results are provided in XML, with layouts generated in HTML, giving full flexibility for graphic style.
The solution is provided under the SaaS model.
The solution's modularity and scalability allow it to stand up to the constant increase in document volume and operational load from the growing audience.
TF1 chose AFS@Web to replace its existing Autonomy software for data indexing and to implement a search solution for the TF1.fr portal.
AFS@Web was selected because it is the only solution that responds to the requirements for relevance, performance and integration in an extremely complex environment (continuous indexing of LCI news, massive variations in traffic, etc.).
